Public Service Announcement

This is another 'public service announcement' to try and alert the people who are still downloading all the malware-infected skins in the Rainmeter Gallery on deviantART!

This has been going on for almost a year and a half! Right now on the main Rainmeter gallery page, out of 120 showing, 110 of them are infected skins!!! And on the next page, there are more. And there are people still downloading them, I can't believe it!

Do they not have anti-virus software on their systems to warn them? Do they not read the warnings that we, in the Rainmeter Group, post around? Do they not notice that the previews are identical to ones that are already out there? Do they not notice that in the gallery, the same thumbnails are there over and over again? Do they not notice that the comments are disabled or hidden? Do they not notice that the loser just joined today and has like 10 skins in their gallery? Do they not know by now that there are basement dwellers with nothing better to do with their time than upload this crap?

Do they think that deviantART moderates the site for malware? The people who are doing this just pull the skins before deviantART reacts to a report and just upload different ones. It's only the odd time that one of them gets caught and banned. Or they deactivate their account and open another one in a different name.

They get most of the skins and previews from Customize.org, so if you really want the original skin without a virus, just go to [link] and look for it there!
